AWSH in Construction Sites (CSOC)
Previously known as the Construction Safety Orientation Course (CSOC), the Apply Workplace Safety and Health (AWSH) in Construction Sites, is a compulsory training course for every construction worker in Singapore. The course will be a good orientation for a construction worker before he begins work.
Under the Workplace Safety and Health (Factories, Safety Training Course order – Clause 2(6)), “Any worker employed in manual labor to carry out construction work in building and engineering construction work sites must undergo a safety and health training course approved by the Commissioner for Workplace Safety and Health”.
CSOC was designed to help construction workers identify their roles and responsibilities, and understand how to act during emergencies like a fire accident. Through CSOC, construction workers will also learn the procedures required in their work and training, including the “Work-at-Height” practices.Construction workers will be taught their rights and responsibilities, as stated in the employment law in Singapore. By attending an orientation course before they start work, construction workers will be able to perform the tasks required with greater skill. A greater understanding of the safety requirements and health hazards will help to reduce the potential of accidents happening at the construction sites.
